"Mentoring is the bedrock around which our activities are organised. It is the value differentiator that sets us apart from others." Apurv Bagri, TiE Global Board Of Trustees
What is the TiE UK Mentoring Programme? The TiE UK Mentoring Programme is how our Charter members and TiE associates share their knowledge and experience with the next generation of entrepreneurs. TiE sees the Mentoring Programme as its main priority, and the most valuable service we offer to our members. The Programme is available to all TiE UK members and can be provided due to Charter Members and TiE associates giving their time voluntarily.
There are three main areas of mentoring:
1. Category A - Leadership; entrepreneurs interested in management, self development and relationships
2. Category B - Business Growth; entrepreneurs interested in business development, business plan, marketing, strategy, finances & financial management, investment, pitching and exit strategy.
3. Category C - Industry Expertise; entrepreneurs interested in industry or operations specific knowledge (example, cleantech, semiconductors, software, etc.)
When mentees are ready, they will be introduced to an industry expert from the prestigious TiE network, all of whom are successful entrepreneurs or professionals with many years of experience and a real passion for business. This approach best utilizes the time that TiE UK Charter members and associates voluntarily give to the mentees.
Who are the mentors?TiE UK Charter Members and TiE associates act as our mentors.
Charter Members are successful entrepreneurs and professionals who are at a stage where they are willing and able to nurture and mentor budding entrepreneurs. TiE UK Charter Members include some of the most respected business people in the UK. For a current list of Charter Members, click here.
TiE associates are experienced members of the business community that volunteer their time and energy to help aspiring entrepreneurs develop themselves and their businesses.
What is the minimum time commitment? The standard expectation is 6 hours spread across a period of 6 months of 1 hour sessions. Meeting time and venue are mutually decided between mentor and mentees. First meeting has to be 1-on-1.
What are the associated costs?Only General Members can apply as mentees. We accept your application only if we have a mentor in the pool matching your mentoring needs. Once we accept your application, an additional £100 of administration fees applies. Applications which are not accepted are kept in open pool for future mentor search upon request.
For a non member the total fees will be:
£50 - General Membership fees
£100 - Admin fee once we accept your application
This comes out to be £150 in total.
For a General Member, only admin fees of £100 applies once we accept your application.
